A short but rewarding climb, the Nuddick Trail leads to the summit of the Nuddick (Ha Ha Mountain) where hikers are greeted with an incredible panoramic view overlooking the picturesque community of Raleigh.
This 800-metre out-and-back route begins near the base of Nuddick Hill and winds gently upward through open barrens and coastal tuckamore. Parking is available at the trailhead. The trail surface is mostly natural ground and rock, with a steady 45-metre climb to the lookout. From the top, you’ll enjoy sweeping views of Raleigh Harbour, surrounding headlands, and the distant Burnt Cape Ecological Reserve which features rare flora like the Burnt Cape Cinquefoil, and remarkable limestone formations such as The Big Oven and Little Oven sea caves, along with rounded limestone hollows called Cannon Holes, all shaped by centuries of coastal erosion.
Trail Notes & Recommendations:
• Allow 30–45 minutes round-trip.
• The summit is exposed — bring a windbreaker on breezy days.
• Wear sturdy footwear; footing may be uneven in places.
• Stay on the marked trail to protect fragile alpine and limestone plants.
• Excellent spot for photography and sunset views over Raleigh Harbour.
