Beginning at John Patey’s Trail, this backcountry route takes hikers on a difficult journey through coastal terrain, thick tuckamore (dense, stunted forest), and areas of rough, unmarked trails.

Hikers will need to navigate and route-find as they move through the dense undergrowth, making this an ideal challenge for experienced adventurers.

The trail follows a route with two offshoots before heading to L’Anse aux Carey, an old abandoned fishing community (marked as Square Bay on maps). The journey continues towards the historic community of Great Brehat, offering a rich historical context to the trek. Throughout, hikers are treated to breathtaking views of the dramatic coastline, rocky cliffs, and sweeping ocean vistas.

The trail is currently unmarked, with plans for future development, aiming to enhance this iconic route as part of their long-term project plans.
